Types of Capitalism and How America Misses the Mark

For several years, American billionaire Leon Cooperman became a minor celebrity for being on the verge of tears while speaking about his concern about “the lefties” proposing a billionaire tax that, in his opinion, destroys capitalism and the American Dream.

Cooperman came from an immigrant family and moved from public schools in the Bronx to a Colombia MBA. Then he had a successful 25-year career at Goldman Sachs’ asset management. Finally, he went on to manage his own hedge fund, Omega Advisors.

“I’ve lived the American dream. I’m trying to convince people like [Senators] Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders and AOC (Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez) — don’t move away from capitalism. Capitalism is the best system,” Cooperman said while holding back tears. “I get choked up when I talk about it because basically, my father came to America at the age of 12 as a plumber’s apprentice.
