A Dog Named Blue
I knew I loved you
As soon as we met
A dog named Blue
I couldn’t wait to pet
I looked high and low
For a new furry friend
They would come and go
It had become the trend
I’d look at Petfinder, Ad after Ad
Many cute, fluffy dogs, ready for adoption
Would go so fast, and make me sad
Ones I loved, no longer an option
One day I called about a black and white dog
At a shelter hours away
The lady answered, in a slog
No luck, the pup got adopted that day
She said I have a little guy
He’s brown and gray
He’s cute as a button and caught my eye
He may be available on Wednesday
I said can you send me a picture please
I knew immediately he would be mine
His cute little smooshy face, I couldn’t wait to squeeze
We’d leave Wednesday morning at 9.
How could I ever
Look at his face
And not know, he would be mine fur-ever
In my heart, he’d always have a placeHe’s funny and grumpy
Sometimes sounds like an old man
His tummy is lumpy
And I’m a big fan
He has lots of grumbles
When you massage his ears
He sometimes mumbles
He has very few fears
He’s a big hog
When his sister gets attention
Such a funny dog
Too many quirks to mention
My dog named Blue
