My First FWA Try with an Interactive Website
Hello! This is Seungjun Lee who is working as a software engineer in Korea. Today, I’m gonna post about the experience about creating web site for fwa appliance while I am serving military service.
As you know(or may not know), South Korea has adopted the conscription system. So I also had served in the military.
Before I write about the experience about the fwa appliance, I want to say about the Korea Army first.Most of Korean male doesn’t prefer serving in the military. As the competition system in Korean get on fire, many people wanted to grow their career rather than serving in the military. And some people thought that serving in the military is wasting their youth.
As time goes, many regulations in army has been reduced. One of the relaxed regulations was the cyber knowledge information room which is called “Ssa-ji-bang”, the pronounciation in Korean.
We could use computer for personal study so that we can adjust to a society after military service. And the available time for using computer was after about 5:30pm ~ 9:00pm. In the computer, there was secure program which delete all installs after reboot and also restrict some sites that could occur secure issue. There were only 5 available computers even the people in the army were about 30.
Luckly, when I was serving in the military, the smart phone regulation was relaxed. So most people used their phone rather than the computer.
So I could use computer at most of time to develop my interactive website.FWA
The reason why I applied
Maybe many people were inspired by Jongmin Kim who is a UX engineer in Google. He has some youtube videos, blogs, and a book about his works and his story. I am also the developer who was inspired by him, and I read and watched his book, youtube videos. And then, I could hear about FWA from his video.
When I visited the FWA, I could find amazing candidates in there. Many websites were very sophicicated and are having lots of interactions that make user fun. I hope that I can win the FWA award and thought “why not try”?
And I have many experiences that I start something and finished without completion. So I thought setting a goal to winning FWA award could be helpful for me to completely build an website.
