Product Masterclass: 5 Steps To Crafting a Great Product Strategy
When I was first tasked with creating a Product Strategy, I must admit that I had no idea what I was meant to do.
I spent countless hours searching online for help, looking up terms such as “How to create a product strategy” or “Product strategy template.” However, all I found were philosophical explanations or someone trying to sell me a course.
After years of trial and error, I’ve developed a simple 5 step process that I still use daily.
So here is that post I wish someone had shared with me years ago. I hope this will be useful for you too.The Process Begins From a Miro Board
I typically begin by creating a Miro Board as the source of truth. From there, I generate presentations and roadmap views based on the information.
This approach enabled me to start quickly without overthinking presentation templates or fancy roadmaps. Taking a high-level approach allows me to develop a product strategy in days rather than months.
So here are the 5 step process:
Step #1: Identify your Product Moats
Step #2: Capture your Product Signals
Step #3: Align your Company Goals
Step #4: Identify Product Bets and Metrics
Step #5: Summarise with a Product Vision
