Scrolling Meets Real-Life

I’m in my daughter’s home taking care of the kids while she and her partner are away.

I’m mindlessly scrolling through Instagram while I wait for the kids to return home from their after-school activities. The textbook definition of killing time.

My Gram feed consists mostly of artists I follow… and the occasional cat. Although cats seem to be multiplying behind the screen — they are showing up on my feed with increased frequency lately. I blame the algo.

Unexpectedly, the screen shows a painting by the same artist who created the painting hanging on the wall facing me. Coincidence?

As I contemplated the two paintings Ned the cat jumped on the couch and sat next to me. Coincidence?

Two hungry kids returned home, as an ad for pizza filled the screen. Coincidence?
