The Art of Resetting

The Art of Resetting for Creativity & Well-Being

How many times have you sat at the computer for hours on end without getting up to stretch, eat and drink water because you are doom-scrolling or crunching a deadline because you waited until the last minute to sit down and do the damn thing?

It really doesn’t sound very fun… But it happens.

I’ve been there so many times before where I felt this urgency of “I have to take action on this thing.” And the more I would think this, the more this urgency would build up, and the more I would just avoid doing this thing. It often comes back to this unnecessary social norm to take quick action and execute to perfection. It also means that most of us hold a negative connotation towards procrastination, but what if I told you that it really isn’t a bad thing at all?

Embracing the space for creativity to play within the process of procrastination can take some practice. But why not give it a try? Why not try something a little different from what you’re doing now? And why not experience the goodness and the growth that procrastination makes space for?

Perhaps you can think of it as a reset.

Some of my favourite ways to reset are taking a little stroll around the neighbourhood, touching the leaves of the trees and taking an extra second to notice the beauty of the flowers. Other times I put my phone on charge, close my laptop and dance around to a few tracks from my favourite artist. I might sit outside to listen to an audio book while I enjoy refreshing sparkling water or a nice cup of tea.

Because I know just how important a moment of resetting is on our mental and emotional well-being, I’ve created this walking meditation for you to get out into a new space and allow yourself to reset and explore!

Before you go… I just want to share with you how drawn I am to this way of resetting because of how much joy it brings and how it allows me to feel more like myself again. Perhaps it will do the same for you too!

So I invite you to listen… to invite your mind to wander beyond the tasks or activities that you have waiting for you… to allow yourself to reset into a place of abundance, mindfulness, gratitude, and comfort.
