Next, email us at parasolpubs@gmail.com with a link to your Medium profile if you wish to write personal essays and memoir with us. We add writers every week to ten days, so please don’t write multiple notes.
Thanks! You must submit a DRAFT essay in your request email to us, an essay you have written for The Narrative Arc and consider appropriate for us to publish. Also, in your request, explain in a few sentences what ‘memoir’ and ‘personal essays’ are.
We don’t add every writer who applies. If we add you, we expect essays to maintain similar quality to your first. We do edit essays, so if you are offended with suggested corrections, we may not be a good fit.

We’re accepting submissions of the finest writing on the platform, told with imagination, irony, and any flavor of description and emotion you can throw at us. Therefore, we’re not interested in any use of AI. If an essay reads ‘bland,’ or oddly stiff or flowery, we won’t publish. We prefer a natural voice without an overload of dreams, visions, and emotion.
We publish personal essays, creative nonfiction, and memoir.
Memoir, a personal recollection of a specific time or place, is one of our favorite genres. Memoir is true — nonfiction — told with plenty of introspection and reflection. It is not a blog entry, or a rambling essay that concludes with self-help.
In order to be added to this pub, we must see evidence of memoir or personal essays on your page. If you are writing listicles, how to make money, and informative articles, you aren’t a good fit for us.
